Like every other player on earth, I was waiting for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord after it was announced in 2012. Years passed with memes, delayed release dates and rumours. Hell, I even met one of the managers in a convention and got a t-shirt and a keychain which I still use. Waiting for Bannerlord became a reality in my life.
So personally i'd go with "Yes". I think bannerlord is a lot better even in early access, theres tons of mods too that make it even better. I have double the amount of hours played on bannerlord already over warband despite owning warband for like 10 years.

Unlike Warband, Bannerlord is not Mount & Blade+. Maybe for the best to let it stand on its own instead of holding it to the standards of Warband. Also as Tuidjy said. The game has in both instances (original and warband) staggered out awkwardly and took some time to gain its footing.
